Comedian and writer Chelsea Handler makes her way to late night on E! Entertainment Television with an edgy, off the cuff and hilarious new comedy series, Chelsea Lately.
The all-new half-hour weeknight series provides Chelsea with the perfect showcase for what she does best: comment on pop culture and entertainment news while interacting with the public. The daily program offers a tongue-in-cheek look at entertainment news, celebrity truths and rumors that just won't die, and other hot topics of the day. Bringing refreshing new energy to the late night arena, Chelsea Lately is an authentic and hilarious commentary on the celebrity culture around us.
Chelsea, the youngest of six children, born in Livingston, New Jersey, to a Jewish father and Mormon mother seemed destined for a career in comedy.
As a successful comedian, she has performed stand-up at venues and festivals throughout the Northern hemisphere, including the Montreal Comedy Festival and the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. She has also had her own half hour Comedy Central special and is a recurring correspondent on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Chelsea was the star of Oxygen’s hit Girls Behaving Badly and has starred in several independent films, including National Lampoon’s Cattle Call and has made guest appearances on Comedy Central’s Reno 911, ABC’s My Wife & Kids, FOX’s The Bernie Mac Show and David E. Kelley’s The Practice. Not to mention, she starred in several pilots, including FX’S Are You Scurred?, Showtime’s Love On the Run and VH1’s Dirty Famous.
Chelsea’s first book, entitled “My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands,” published by Bloomsbury, was recently released in the U.S. and over twenty other countries. It has become a bestseller on several lists. Her follow up book, entitled “Are you there Vodka, it’s me Chelsea,” will be coming out in 2008.
Ms. Handler will be filming a segment the evening of the pageant for her hit late night show, Chelsea Lately.
